Naruto is a very noisey ninja, often speaking his thoughts rather than thinking them through first. He is very optimistic and often see's the best in people. He has a habit of over-reacting when baited. He often comes across as a bit on the thick side, requiring simplified explanations of things but he is by no means stupid. Years as a prankster have resulted in a very sharp mind. He is capable of coming up battle strategies that are impressivly complex and imaginative, very quickly whilst fighting.
As a result of the lonliness he knew as a child Naruto understands better than anyone else the true value of friendship. He also sympathises with any one who knows what it is to be alone and unloved. Naruto goes out of his way to befriend people and over the years he has made many great friends.
Ultimately Naruto looks for the best in people - no matter who they are and although he's quick to act he will always try to reason with his enemies. He is passionate about the things he believes in, the bonds of friendship etc, and as such pours his everything into matters that concern them, sometimes even losing control to the situation completely.

HISTORY:
The events surrounding Naruto Uzumaki’s birth were tense to say the least. His mother was the nine-tails Jinchuuriki and risked breaking the seal and losing control of the fox whilst in labour. As such the fourth Hokage Minato Namikaze (Naruto’s father) had set up various safety precautions. These precautions did not prevent the actions of Madara Uchiha who subsequently released the nine-tails fox upon the village. Many lives were lost during its rampage but by sacrificing his life, the fourth Hokage was able to seal the fox in his new born son. Kushina and Minato left a part of themselves in Naruto too, before they died, leaving little Naruto as an orphan.
The adults of the time resented Naruto, knowing full well what he contained and, despite the Third Hokage forbidding them to talk of the truth about Naruto, their resentment was passed down to their children. So as Naruto was growing up he was stigmatized and never knew why. Even the children who ostracized him did not really know why they did it other than that their parents did. Knowing such hatred and such loneliness was not uncommon for Jinchuuriki but with Naruto’s personality, rather than becoming cold and solitary like many other Jinchuuriki, he fought tooth and nail to be acknowledged; to make friends.
The first of these friends was Iruka, his teacher in the academy and later, after graduating and becoming a member of team seven he befriended Sakura, Sasuke and even Kakashi. Their first real mission was only intended to be an escort mission in the land of Waves but it turned more sinister when they were attacked by Zabuza Momochi. The fight with him was difficult, more so when he was aided by the young Haku but somehow the youngsters managed to scrape through. Naruto felt the nine-tails influence for the first time which increased his capabilities and in the end it was his voice that got through to Zabuza.
It was the first time Naruto really used his gift for befriending people, or at least getting through to them. Team 7 had proven themselves to be quite capable too. Upon returning to Konoha it was soon made clear that the chuunin exams would be starting soon. Team 7 made it through the first round, obtaining the heaven and earth scrolls with the help of Kabuto but not without a few choice encounters. Orochimaru and the other Sound ninja proved troublesome and Sasuke was given the curse mark whilst Naruto had an additional seal placed over the fox’s chakra to prevent him from using it. They all make it through stage one and subsequently, Naruto and Sasuke make it through the second round and onto the third.
In the time between the rounds Naruto sets about training with Ebisu but soon enough finds Jiraiya of the legendary Sannin taking over his training. Jiraiya noticed that whilst Naruto was trying to walk on water there was something disrupting his chakra flow. He discovered Orochimaru’s seal and promptly released it. He went on to teach Naruto how to summon toads and (to a degree) how to use the fox chakra by putting his life in danger. When the Chuunin exams resumed Naruto defeated his first opponent, Neji Hyuuga. In doing so he penetrated the hatred that Neji had shrouded himself in, making an impact on him as he had with Zabuza would go on to do with many others. He never got to finish the tournament style exam as during Sasuke’s bout with Gaara the Invasion of Konoha began. Gaara began his transformation into Shuukaku, easily beating back Sasuke and endangering Sakura’s life. It was Naruto who rose to fight him and eventually bring him down. Once more, Naruto had a profound effect on his enemy, changing his perspective on the world from one of loneliness and hate to something more optimistic. Gaara would be one of the people Naruto felt most strongly toward due to his status as a fellow Jinchuuriki.
The Invasion of Konoha took the life of the Third Hokage, something that deeply upset Naruto. He went with Jiraiya to find the Shinobi who would take his place as the Fifth Hokage. As they travelled, Jiraiya had Naruto training hard to learn the Rasengan technique. It took a lot of hard work but eventually he got the hang of it, just in time to witness the fight between Tsunade and Jiraiya vs. Orochimaru. He defended Tsunade from Kabuto when she was crippled by her fear of blood and somehow woke her up from it. Naruto’s determination sparked something in her and she eventually decided to come to Konoha to take up the title of Hokage. She also gave him her grandfather (the First Hokage)’s necklace.
Naruto and Sasuke had been rivals since childhood, and Naruto used his team mate as a marker to measure himself with. Since the events surrounding the Chuunin exams, however, Sasuke had been growing less confident in himself, keenly aware that Naruto was the one who stopped Gaara, not him. When Itachi Uchiha and Kisame of Akatsuki appeared in Konoha, he had gone to confront his brother, only to find that it was Naruto they sought. The skirmish left them empty handed and a combination of Jiraiya and village Jounin forced them to retreat but Sasuke couldn’t understand why they wanted Naruto and so his feelings of rivalry grew. He began to seek more power to be able to kill his brother and was tempted by Orochimaru’s offer.
When the Sound four appear and take Sasuke with them to release his curse mark, Naruto promises Sakura that he will bring him back. He and his fellow Konoha classmates give chase, and are even aided by the Sand Siblings. Eventually Naruto caught up with Sasuke in the Valley of the End but was unable to talk him into coming home. Instead he fought with him, even going as far as release the fox cloak to defeat his friend. In the end it came down to Rasengan versus chidori and as close as the outcome was, Naruto was left unconscious and Sasuke escaped to join Orochimaru, leaving behind only his scratched headband. Following his recovery from the fight and a few schemes to try and find Sasuke, Naruto left with Jiraiya to train and grow stronger.
After a three year period with Jiraiya, they at last returned to Konoha, with a new outfit too. Off the bat he and Sakura were pitted against Kakashi in another bell test, which, with the help of Naruto’s imagination, they succeeded in with relative ease. There was little time to settle into his home before team seven’s first new mission was given to them – Gaara (now kazekage of Sunagakure) had been kidnapped by Akatsuki. They were to aid in a rescue. After a few days it came down to Naruto and Kakashi hot on Deidara’s heals while Chiyo and Sakura fought with Sasori. Naruto was almost lost to the Nine-Tail’s influence when he came face to face with the Akatsuki member. Kakashi was able to subdue him, however and they recovered Gaara’s body (for he was already dead). It seemed they were too late but Chiyo, who was already dying, gave her life to restore the Kazekage’s though Naruto helped her in doing so. After re-affirming their bond, Naruto parts with Gaara and team Kakashi (and team Guy) return to Konoha.
Intel gathered from Sasori leads Team Kakashi (with its new members Yamato and Sai) to an alleged meeting point for Kabuto and the now dead puppet master. Naruto fights with Orochimaru, taking on the four tails form and causing massive destruction to the surrounding area, even injuring Sakura in his uncontrollable state. Yet he only caused Orochimaru to flee with Kabuto and Sai in tow. The remains of Team Kakashi gave chase, finding one of the Sannin’s lairs. They infiltrate and despite some questions as to Sai’s allegiance, they finally come to confront Sasuke Uchiha. Naruto was too exhausted to compare to Sasuke’s new strength and they are defeated after failing to convince him to come home. They are spared by Orochimaru’s want to retreat and return to Konoha empty handed.
Naruto, aware that he hurt Sakura when he last lost control of the fox chakra is determined to find a new way of defeating enemies and so he, with the help of Yamato and Kakashi, begins to develop his nature chakra. It soon becomes apparent that his natural affiliation is to the Wind element and soon he is using a huge number of Shadow clones to develop a new technique. He finally achieves Rasen Shuriken just in time to aid in the fight against Akatsuki members Kakuzu and Hidan. Kakuzu proves to be a difficult foe but in the end he was destroyed by Naruto’s new, powerful technique.
After hearing of Orochimaru’s death, Konoha sends out a search party to try and retrieve Sasuke once more. When the encounter Kabuto he gives Naruto a book containing lots of information regarding Akatsuki. As the search for Sasuke continues, Naruto stumbles upon Itachi, who locks him in a genjutsu. After convincing Itachi that he will do anything necessary to protect Sasuke and Konoha the Akatsuki member plants some of his power within Naruto in the form of a crow before releasing him and disappearing. Following a brief encounter with Tobi the Konoha ninja are forced to give up and return to the village empty handed yet again.
Upon learning of Jiraiya’s death, Naruto is naturally very upset, blaming Tsunade for the tragedy. It takes a confrontation from Iruka and Shikamaru to snap Naruto out of his rut and get him to help decode Jiraiya’s final message. The message makes it clear that Pain will seek out Naruto and so he decides to leave Konoha to train with the toads. This he does and after a lot of hard work he learns to use natural energy to enter Sage mode. As soon as he hears of the attack on Konoha he (and several toads) is summoned to the great crater that is the remains of Konoha. It takes him a minute to absorb the destruction and recognise the torn earth as his home. Full of rage he heads into battle with Pain. Using his ingenuity he is able to defeat four of the six bodies of Pain before he was immobilised. Hinata made an attempt to help him then, when he was pinned to the ground, listening to Pain’s plans for peace, and it appeared that she had been killed in doing so. Naruto lost control, becoming the six-tailed form of the fox and attacking wildly. Within his subconscious the fox lured him and tempted him with offers to destroy everything that had caused him pain, causing him to advance further –to the eight-tails stage of the transformation. Just when it seemed all hope was lost, that he would remove the seal completely and become the nine-tails fox, a vision appeared inside of him.
His father, the Fourth Hokage, had appeared to stop him from opening the seal and freeing the fox. They discussed the reason that he had sealed the fox in his son and also the hatred that had given rise to Pain and finally, before leaving, he restored the seal to contain the fox. Naruto returned to his sage mode form and finished off the animated corpse before him and subsequently used his chakra receivers to seek out Nagato. There he debated Nagato’s methods and made it clear that despite the hate he felt towards him, he would not kill the Rinnegan user. Once again Naruto had used his words to get through to someone who seemed beyond help and as such Nagato sacrificed his own life to restore those he had taken in Konoha.
Upon returning to the village, he was hailed a hero, finally receiving the recognition from the residents that he had always sought after. He was not thrilled to learn that Tsunade was still unconscious from the exertion of protecting all the villagers from Pain’s assault, nor was he pleased to learn that Danzo had replaced her as Hokage and was ordering the execution of Sasuke. He let the Hidden Cloud ninja beat him up for his inability to sell out Sasuke, until Sai interrupted them. While recovering from his wounds Yamato and Kakashi took him to the Land of Iron to meet the Raikage and the five kage summit and plead with him to forgive Sasuke. On the way Naruto meets Tobi (who he knows as Madara) once more. He spins a tale about the sage of six paths and the truth about the Uchiha’s and the motivation behind Sasuke’s vengeful path. Yet still Naruto is convinced he can get through to him just as he did with all the others. Scoffing at him, Madara left. His journey (and additional training with the sage mode) was interrupted once again but this time by Sakura who proclaimed to him her love in an attempt to make him abandon his promise to bring Sasuke back. Naruto did not believe her and put down her attempt to stop him, causing her to give up and leave.
As the truth behind everyone’s intentions came out and Gaara informed him of the plans to protect him from Akatsuki, he became overwhelmed and passed out. When he woke up he left to find Kakashi and Sakura, arriving just in time to stop her from being killed. He tried to reason with his friend as he’d been so confident he’d be able to when talking with Madara but he was unsuccessful and was drawn into combat. They were evenly matched but did not get far into the fight before Zetsu and Madara’s arrival drew it to a close. It was clear though that they were on such a level playing field that their next battle would spell the end to both of them. When he returned to Konoha he made it clear to his former classmates that he would shoulder the responsibility for dealing with Sasuke alone.
In Mount Myoboku he found himself before the great toad sage who told him about his future and presented him with the key to the seal that contained the fox within him. Having been back in Konoha, he was sent to an island in the Land of Lightning under the impression he would be studying the local wildlife, unaware that is was just an attempt to hide him from Akatsuki. He was completely drawn away from that idea when he met Killer B. He was taken to the falls of truth where he battled a dark copy of himself – using knowledge of how Gaara and B had changed how others saw them and having faith in himself to defeat his dark copy with a hug. Killer B took him beyond the falls of truth to overcome the Nine-tails fox.
After releasing the seal, with B’s help, he landed enough attack to weaken the fox and begin draining its chakra. It turned into a struggle, with the fox using it’s hatred to consume Naruto in turn. It was during this struggle that Kushina Uzumaki appeared to him in his subconscious. The happiness and love he felt upon seeing her stopped the fox’s influence and they talked for a while and she restrained the fox for him while he attacked it. Finally he used a new, stronger seal to lock it away once more. He talked with his mother some more, learning the truth about the events surrounding his birth. Filling them both with love, she tearfully left. He found then that he had attained Chakra mode. The first of his new abilities he discovered was the one that allowed him to sense negative emotions, alerting him to the Akatsuki member, Kisame, hidden within the sword Samehada. Kisame made to escape but was stopped by the Jounin on the island, though he did successfully send away a scroll.
While training with B in the chakra isolating chamber, he sensed the distant chakra of the nine-tails from Kinkaku, sparking in him curiosity and suspicion about what was going on. He tricked B into letting him go outside. He was confronted there by various Jounin, including Iruka, who were meant to keep him in. He could sense the war raging now and it was Iruka who finally told him the truth of what was going on. He burst through the guards and barrier to make his way to the front lines.

Jiraiya noticed that whilst Naruto was trying to walk on water there was something disrupting his chakra flow. He discovered Orochimaru’s seal and promptly released it. He went on to teach Naruto how to summon toads and (to a degree) how to use the fox chakra by putting his life in danger. When the Chuunin exams resumed Naruto defeated his first opponent, Neji Hyuuga. In doing so he penetrated the hatred that Neji had shrouded himself in, making an impact on him as he had with Zabuza would go on to do with many others. He never got to finish the tournament style exam as during Sasuke’s bout with Gaara the Invasion of Konoha began. Gaara began his transformation into Shuukaku, easily beating back Sasuke and endangering Sakura’s life. It was Naruto who rose to fight him and eventually bring him down. Once more, Naruto had a profound effect on his enemy, changing his perspective on the world from one of loneliness and hate to something more optimistic. Gaara would be one of the people Naruto felt most strongly toward due to his status as a fellow Jinchuuriki.
The Invasion of Konoha took the life of the Third Hokage, something that deeply upset Naruto. He went with Jiraiya to find the Shinobi who would take his place as the Fifth Hokage. As they travelled, Jiraiya had Naruto training hard to learn the Rasengan technique. It took a lot of hard work but eventually he got the hang of it, just in time to witness the fight between Tsunade and Jiraiya vs. Orochimaru. He defended Tsunade from Kabuto when she was crippled by her fear of blood and somehow woke her up from it. Naruto’s determination sparked something in her and she eventually decided to come to Konoha to take up the title of Hokage. She also gave him her grandfather (the First Hokage)’s necklace.
Naruto and Sasuke had been rivals since childhood, and Naruto used his team mate as a marker to measure himself with. Since the events surrounding the Chuunin exams, however, Sasuke had been growing less confident in himself, keenly aware that Naruto was the one who stopped Gaara, not him. When Itachi Uchiha and Kisame of Akatsuki appeared in Konoha, he had gone to confront his brother, only to find that it was Naruto they sought. The skirmish left them empty handed and a combination of Jiraiya and village Jounin forced them to retreat but Sasuke couldn’t understand why they wanted Naruto and so his feelings of rivalry grew. He began to seek more power to be able to kill his brother and was tempted by Orochimaru’s offer.
When the Sound four appear and take Sasuke with them to release his curse mark, Naruto promises Sakura that he will bring him back. He and his fellow Konoha classmates give chase, and are even aided by the Sand Siblings. Eventually Naruto caught up with Sasuke in the Valley of the End but was unable to talk him into coming home. Instead he fought with him, even going as far as release the fox cloak to defeat his friend. In the end it came down to Rasengan versus chidori and as close as the outcome was, Naruto was left unconscious and Sasuke escaped to join Orochimaru, leaving behind only his scratched headband. Following his recovery from the fight and a few schemes to try and find Sasuke, Naruto left with Jiraiya to train and grow stronger.
After a three year period with Jiraiya, they at last returned to Konoha, with a new outfit too. Off the bat he and Sakura were pitted against Kakashi in another bell test, which, with the help of Naruto’s imagination, they succeeded in with relative ease. There was little time to settle into his home before team seven’s first new mission was given to them – Gaara (now kazekage of Sunagakure) had been kidnapped by Akatsuki. They were to aid in a rescue. After a few days it came down to Naruto and Kakashi hot on Deidara’s heals while Chiyo and Sakura fought with Sasori. Naruto was almost lost to the Nine-Tail’s influence when he came face to face with the Akatsuki member. Kakashi was able to subdue him, however and they recovered Gaara’s body (for he was already dead). It seemed they were too late but Chiyo, who was already dying, gave her life to restore the Kazekage’s though Naruto helped her in doing so. After re-affirming their bond, Naruto parts with Gaara and team Kakashi (and team Guy) return to Konoha.
Intel gathered from Sasori leads Team Kakashi (with its new members Yamato and Sai) to an alleged meeting point for Kabuto and the now dead puppet master. Naruto fights with Orochimaru, taking on the four tails form and causing massive destruction to the surrounding area, even injuring Sakura in his uncontrollable state. Yet he only caused Orochimaru to flee with Kabuto and Sai in tow. The remains of Team Kakashi gave chase, finding one of the Sannin’s lairs. They infiltrate and despite some questions as to Sai’s allegiance, they finally come to confront Sasuke Uchiha. Naruto was too exhausted to compare to Sasuke’s new strength and they are defeated after failing to convince him to come home. They are spared by Orochimaru’s want to retreat and return to Konoha empty handed.
Naruto, aware that he hurt Sakura when he last lost control of the fox chakra is determined to find a new way of defeating enemies and so he, with the help of Yamato and Kakashi, begins to develop his nature chakra. It soon becomes apparent that his natural affiliation is to the Wind element and soon he is using a huge number of Shadow clones to develop a new technique. He finally achieves Rasen Shuriken just in time to aid in the fight against Akatsuki members Kakuzu and Hidan. Kakuzu proves to be a difficult foe but in the end he was destroyed by Naruto’s new, powerful technique.
After hearing of Orochimaru’s death, Konoha sends out a search party to try and retrieve Sasuke once more. When the encounter Kabuto he gives Naruto a book containing lots of information regarding Akatsuki. As the search for Sasuke continues, Naruto stumbles upon Itachi, who locks him in a genjutsu. After convincing Itachi that he will do anything necessary to protect Sasuke and Konoha the Akatsuki member plants some of his power within Naruto in the form of a crow before releasing him and disappearing. Following a brief encounter with Tobi the Konoha ninja are forced to give up and return to the village empty handed yet again.
Upon learning of Jiraiya’s death, Naruto is naturally very upset, blaming Tsunade for the tragedy. It takes a confrontation from Iruka and Shikamaru to snap Naruto out of his rut and get him to help decode Jiraiya’s final message. The message makes it clear that Pain will seek out Naruto and so he decides to leave Konoha to train with the toads. This he does and after a lot of hard work he learns to use natural energy to enter Sage mode. As soon as he hears of the attack on Konoha he (and several toads) is summoned to the great crater that is the remains of Konoha. It takes him a minute to absorb the destruction and recognise the torn earth as his home. Full of rage he heads into battle with Pain. Using his ingenuity he is able to defeat four of the six bodies of Pain before he was immobilised. Hinata made an attempt to help him then, when he was pinned to the ground, listening to Pain’s plans for peace, and it appeared that she had been killed in doing so. Naruto lost control, becoming the six-tailed form of the fox and attacking wildly. Within his subconscious the fox lured him and tempted him with offers to destroy everything that had caused him pain, causing him to advance further –to the eight-tails stage of the transformation. Just when it seemed all hope was lost, that he would remove the seal completely and become the nine-tails fox, a vision appeared inside of him.
His father, the Fourth Hokage, had appeared to stop him from opening the seal and freeing the fox. They discussed the reason that he had sealed the fox in his son and also the hatred that had given rise to Pain and finally, before leaving, he restored the seal to contain the fox. Naruto returned to his sage mode form and finished off the animated corpse before him and subsequently used his chakra receivers to seek out Nagato. There he debated Nagato’s methods and made it clear that despite the hate he felt towards him, he would not kill the Rinnegan user. Once again Naruto had used his words to get through to someone who seemed beyond help and as such Nagato sacrificed his own life to restore those he had taken in Konoha.
Upon returning to the village, he was hailed a hero, finally receiving the recognition from the residents that he had always sought after. He was not thrilled to learn that Tsunade was still unconscious from the exertion of protecting all the villagers from Pain’s assault, nor was he pleased to learn that Danzo had replaced her as Hokage and was ordering the execution of Sasuke. He let the Hidden Cloud ninja beat him up for his inability to sell out Sasuke, until Sai interrupted them. While recovering from his wounds Yamato and Kakashi took him to the Land of Iron to meet the Raikage and the five kage summit and plead with him to forgive Sasuke. On the way Naruto meets Tobi (who he knows as Madara) once more. He spins a tale about the sage of six paths and the truth about the Uchiha’s and the motivation behind Sasuke’s vengeful path. Yet still Naruto is convinced he can get through to him just as he did with all the others. Scoffing at him, Madara left. His journey (and additional training with the sage mode) was interrupted once again but this time by Sakura who proclaimed to him her love in an attempt to make him abandon his promise to bring Sasuke back. Naruto did not believe her and put down her attempt to stop him, causing her to give up and leave.
As the truth behind everyone’s intentions came out and Gaara informed him of the plans to protect him from Akatsuki, he became overwhelmed and passed out. When he woke up he left to find Kakashi and Sakura, arriving just in time to stop her from being killed. He tried to reason with his friend as he’d been so confident he’d be able to when talking with Madara but he was unsuccessful and was drawn into combat. They were evenly matched but did not get far into the fight before Zetsu and Madara’s arrival drew it to a close. It was clear though that they were on such a level playing field that their next battle would spell the end to both of them. When he returned to Konoha he made it clear to his former classmates that he would shoulder the responsibility for dealing with Sasuke alone.
In Mount Myoboku he found himself before the great toad sage who told him about his future and presented him with the key to the seal that contained the fox within him. Having been back in Konoha, he was sent to an island in the Land of Lightning under the impression he would be studying the local wildlife, unaware that is was just an attempt to hide him from Akatsuki. He was completely drawn away from that idea when he met Killer B. He was taken to the falls of truth where he battled a dark copy of himself – using knowledge of how Gaara and B had changed how others saw them and having faith in himself to defeat his dark copy with a hug. Killer B took him beyond the falls of truth to overcome the Nine-tails fox.
After releasing the seal, with B’s help, he landed enough attack to weaken the fox and begin draining its chakra. It turned into a struggle, with the fox using it’s hatred to consume Naruto in turn. It was during this struggle that Kushina Uzumaki appeared to him in his subconscious. The happiness and love he felt upon seeing her stopped the fox’s influence and they talked for a while and she restrained the fox for him while he attacked it. Finally he used a new, stronger seal to lock it away once more. He talked with his mother some more, learning the truth about the events surrounding his birth. Filling them both with love, she tearfully left. He found then that he had attained Chakra mode. The first of his new abilities he discovered was the one that allowed him to sense negative emotions, alerting him to the Akatsuki member, Kisame, hidden within the sword Samehada. Kisame made to escape but was stopped by the Jounin on the island, though he did successfully send away a scroll.
While training with B in the chakra isolating chamber, he sensed the distant chakra of the nine-tails from Kinkaku, sparking in him curiosity and suspicion about what was going on. He tricked B into letting him go outside. He was confronted there by various Jounin, including Iruka, who were meant to keep him in. He could sense the war raging now and it was Iruka who finally told him the truth of what was going on. He burst through the guards and barrier to make his way to the front lines.

Then a whole heap of shit happened and now he's all like "rawr" in chakra mode killin' all the bad guys. Also he and gaara are lovers...
